THE MAGIC FLUTE - A SHORT HISTORY…

Premiered in Berlin in 2012 Komische Oper Berlin’s Magic Flute staged by British theatre group 1927 and Barrie KOSKY has since then had more than 350 performances in more than 25 cities worldwide and has been seen by about 500,000 people. It was originally co-produced with Deutsche Oper am Rhein, but has in the meanwhile been licensed or rented to and performed by several opera houses, including Los Angeles Opera, Minneapolis Opera, National Opera Warsaw, Helsinki National Opera, Teatro Real Madrid, Rome Opera and others. Tours of the Komische Oper Berlin ensemble performing this Magic Flute production include venues in Shanghai, Guangzhou, Edinburgh Festival, Barcelona (Liceu Opera), Paris (Opéra Comique), Moscow (Bolshoi New Stage), Tokyo, Hiroshima, Osaka, Beijing, Budapest, Adelaide and Auckland among others.
